Morgen wird Papst Franziskus ja seine lang erwartete und bereits viel diskutierte (da geleakte – das italienische Magazin „L’Espresso“ veröffentlichte am Montagabend eine 192 Seiten lange Version) Enzyklika „Laudato si“ („Gelobt seist Du“) zu Klima und Umwelt.
Zu den allgemeinen Inhalten und was man daraus lesen kann, hat sich jetzt schon Gott und die Welt geäußert und wird das ab morgen sicherlich noch ausführlich tun. Ich möchte aber auf einen speziellen Aspekt hinweisen, der vielleicht am Ende untergehen oder überlesen werden könnte. Der Guardian nämlich berichtet, dass der Papst sich folgendermaßen äußert:
The attitudes that stand in the way of a solution, even among believers, range from negation of the problem, to indifference, to convenient resignation or blind faith in technical solutions. […] In a surprisingly specific and unambiguous passage, the draft rejects outright “carbon credits” as a solution to the problem. It says they “could give rise to a new form of speculation and would not help to reduce the overall emission of polluting gases”. On the contrary, the pope wrote, it could help “support the super-consumption of certain countries and sectors”.
Vielleicht hat die Katholische Kirche ja doch aus den Erfahrungen mit dem Ablasshandel gelernt…
